Shelter Dog On Dᴇᴀᴛʜ Row Trembles With Fear And Too Afraid To Walk – Dogs Stories

Every dog and cat deserves a loving family and a chance at life.

Meet Mocha, a one-year-old Pitbull mix, who was dumped at Rowan County Animal Shelter in Salisbury, North Carolina. She was sᴜʀʀᴇɴᴅᴇʀᴇᴅ with another dog by her ʜᴇᴀʀᴛʟᴇss owner, through no fault of her own. The shelter set a date of November 1 for Mocha and if she was not adopted by then she would be ᴇᴜ.ᴛʜᴀɴɪᴢᴇᴅ.
Mocha was so afraid that she just sat there, shaking in her kennel, as people walked past her. Due to her fearful demeanor, no one would even give her a second look. Thankfully, Mocha no longer has to worry about her fate. She has been pulled from the shelter and placed in foster care!

Right after she left the shelter, she managed to run away. But thankfully Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Control found her just a few hours later and she is now back at her foster home, safe and out of danger. Although she is still very timid, being out of the shelter will hopefully help her warm up to people and flourish. She had a ʜᴏʀʀɪʙʟᴇ first year of life, but she will soon learn that not all humans are bad.

One of the shelter’s volunteers, Albina Albiie Chanel, wanted to show Mocha that not all humans are bad. She was heartbroken at the state Mocha was in and wanted to give her a fighting chance at finding a family.

“You know, every day we ᴅᴇ.ᴀʟ with ᴄ.ʀᴜᴇ.ʟty and ᴇ.ᴠ.ɪʟ done by humans. This sweet girl broke my heart. Talk about a broken soul. Some days I hate humans so much. Hang in there Mocha baby. She’s seen so much evil in just her 1 year of life,” wrote Albina.

She posted a call to adopt the dog on social media and received a lot of comments:

“My wish for you darling is that one day you find your trust again in humans,” shelter volunteer Albina Albiie Chanel wrote on Facebook. “I wish that one day you learn not all of us are bad. I wish that one day you feel the happiness that you never felt before. I wish that one day you feel all the love you can possibly feel….”
People say, “I shake so much in my kennel that people just walk past me. I can’t help it tho, humans haven’t been nice to me. I am so skinny but I love to eat. I tried to be brave for my pictures today but I couldn’t even really get up. I tried tho and I think the girls that were with me knew I was trying.. I got brave enough to even take a treat later.”

The heartbreaking letter concluded with, “I was surrendered to the shelter by my owner with my friend.. please consider adopting me and giving me a chance at a good life. But please know I may take a while to warm up because I’m just so scared. You can find me in kennel #5.
Love,
