Special Needs Dog Drags Herself To See Airman Dad That’s Been Away For 6 Months

Emma is a little pit bull mix with a big personality – and even though a birth d.e.f.e.c.t left her back legs completely ᴘᴀʀᴀʟʏᴢᴇᴅ, this heartwarming video shows that her love is bigger than her ᴅɪsᴀʙɪʟɪᴛʏ.

The video, filmed in 2013, shows Emma excitedly hurrying over to the front door to welcome her military dad home from a 6-month deployment. Despite everything she has been through, she is so happy to welcome her daddy.

Emma’s owner, Melissa Proctor Swanson, said, “My husband has been gone for 6 months. Before he left, we adopted (are long-term foster parents for SNARR-a special needs animal rescue) a special needs puppy with a severe birth d.e.f.e.c.t. Emma and her daddy were very close! It broke her heart when he left. When I come in the door, she normally sits at the end of the hallway and waits for me to pick her up. This time, when her daddy came in, she went to him!”

Since the video was filmed, Emma’s back legs were amputated to make her more comfortable. Her humans have a Facebook page where they post regular updates about the tough little dog, and she’s just as happy and loving as ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62GMklEKAtU&feature=emb_title
