All he wants is what any dog wants is to be loved. The story of Rescue Dog Phoenix the dog began more than a year ago when he was abandoned as a stray. He attracts attention whenever people see him wandering the streets in search of food. However, any potential aid quickly disappeared whenever people took a closer look at Phoenix’s face. Unfortunately, that led to countless people calling him “monstrous” or “terrible”. Thankfully, there are some people who are willing to put aside his looks to lend him a hand.
People from the Skiatook Paws & Claws Animal Rescue Team in Oklahoma did not hesitate to rescue the poor dog when they received a call about him. His appearance made no difference to them, and they vowed to help him just like any other dog. When the rescue team encountered Phoenix, it became clear that he had once been someone’s pet. However, it is clear that due to his abandoned condition, his previous owners did nothing to ensure he was adequately cared for.
The rescue still doesn’t know what led to Phoenix’s unique appearance. When he was found, he was unafraid of the complete opposite. But the overarching good news is that Phoenix is much better now than he was when he first arrived. He has done nothing but improve day by day, and has had a lot of support from dog lovers in the community including several adoption offers. While the rescue team is extremely grateful to the kind individuals who expressed interest in adopting Phoenix, they had to provide an explanation to let community members know that if Phoenix was adopted, it would be lost.
