Dog With a Growing T.ᴜ.ᴍ.ᴏ.ʀ Given Up to Be Put Down, Has Living Best Life Now

Despite this commonly occurring situation, a Dallas area rescue was shocked when a pup named Hattie was surrendered. Hattie’s owners brought her to a local shelter in 2018, and at the time, she had a massive Tᴜᴍᴏʀ growing on her left side.

This story is about Hattie, a dog who was brought to a shelter to be ᴇᴜᴛʜᴀɴɪᴢᴇᴅ due to a huge Tᴜᴍᴏʀ that had been growing on her side for over 2 years. However, Vet Ranch and her rescuers believed she deserved another chance.

According to Dallas Dog Rescue Rehab Reform, Hattie was possibly the worst owner surrender they had ever seen. Sadly, owner-surrenders are very common at shelters everywhere. People return or surrender their dogs for many reasons, ranging from children’s allergies to financial distress to housing that won’t allow pets to pure callousness.

Dr. Karri, who works at Vet Ranch, took care of Hattie and was shocked by the size of her tumor, which was the largest he had ever seen. Hattie was unsteady and unable to balance herself due to the weight of the tumor. Dr. Karri also noted that Hattie would use the tumor as a makeshift bean bag chair to lay on.

Fortunately, Dr. Karri successfully removed the 15-pound tumor in surgery, and Hattie now appears to be a completely different dog.

To continue her healing, Hattie was placed in a foster home, and eventually, her rescuers found her a forever home. This is great news!

What a turnaround! She was slated to be euthanized, but destiny had other plans! What a wonderful conclusion!
