Shelter Puppy Urges People Passing By To Play Games Through Kennel Bars

Trapped in a kennel at the Animal Care Center (ACC) in Brooklyn, New York, a dog named “Barbie” has always hoped that someone might notice him.

The friendly dog craves attention and quickly finds a way to make people stop at her doorstep. If she stretches her legs over the crib bars, passersby often stop and start playing games with her.

ACC volunteer Manisha Shah was immediately struck by Barbie’s outstretched feet and pleading face. She couldn’t help but give her a little love.

“She really is the sexiest little pup,” says Shah. “As we passed her crib, we greeted her and gave her a treat, and she would wander around in her crib looking for attention and hopefully getting out. Finally, it was her turn, and she stuck her little paw through the food slot. She’s irresistible!”

Barbie arrives at the Brooklyn ACC after being surrendered by her former guardian. Missing her family, Barbie did everything she could to build a relationship with anyone who visited the shelter. “She loves jumping in the yard, grabbing balls and stuffed toys,” says Shah. “She loves cuddling us on the bench, and we love her curiosity about everything.”

Shah has a feeling that it won’t take long for Barbie to find her perfect figure. She posted a video of Barbie on Thoroughbred in Brooklyn, an Instagram account supporting the dogs at Brooklyn ACC, and quickly got a lot of responses.

“She was adopted quickly!” Shah said. “One of our followers saw our post and went to the shelter and quickly adopted her!”

Barbie’s new parents are obsessed with their new family member and have created an Instagram account dedicated to documenting their adventures together. Obviously from now on, Barbie will get all the attention she deserves.
