With a ʙʀᴏᴋᴇɴ jaw and ʙʀᴏᴋᴇɴ leg, Lilac was trying to survive when a jogger in Atlanta, Georgia saw her hiding under a car.
The dog was violently attacked by other dogs and unidentified people. But when the good Samaritan approached her, she crawled out to meet them. As if “she knew she was being saved”.
She was taken to the vet by New York-based Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs, where she was immediately given emergency care. Further veterinary examination revealed that in addition to her severely injured leg and broken jaw, Lilac also suffered abdominal trauma from a bullet lodged in her body! Despite the trauma to her body, Lilac’s tail would wag whenever someone noticed her. After a few “touch and go” days, Lilac miraculously passed.
The vets couldn’t save her leg, but they worked wonders to heal her rest. Currently Lilac may have three legs but she is on her way to a full recovery. Lilac is currently thriving with the love and attention she receives. She fought for a very long time to get where she is today. She may have lost a leg, but she has a family as big as the universe.
Over a month after Lilac recovered, she was adopted! Second Chance posted: “Lilac will be staying in Georgia and will be going home this weekend. Look how happy she is with her new adopter, it’s like really looking at her face!”
They go on to thank the excellent medical team that saved Lilac’s life and conclude her rescue
