Kitten Who L.ᴏ.s.ᴛ Ears, Tail and Leg From Mysterious illness Finds a New Home

It is difficult to find homes for pets with special needs and ᴅɪsᴀʙɪʟɪᴛɪᴇs. Some pets have such unusual and severe conditions that it can be difficult to find a family willing to take care of them. Recently, a 6-month-old kitten was adopted after losing her ear due to a mysterious illness but fortunately, she has now found a loving new home.

On January 20, MSPCA-Angell shared the story of an unusual kitten named “Dollie” who was left scarred due to a recent medical problem.

Things seem to be going well for Dollie and she is about to spend her first vacation with her new family. But in November, the kitten started to feel sick and her family noticed serious problems with her skin and ears.

The family took her to MSPCA, and soon the poor cat’s ears fell out because of her illness. “Parts of her skin are ɴᴇᴄʀᴏᴛɪᴄ and it is ᴅʏɪɴɢ,” their post read. “It affected her extremities, including her tail, legs, and most of her ear tissue. We have never seen anything like it.”

Dollie’s family was “understandably overwhelmed” by her condition and decided to put her in the care of MSPCA. The veterinarians at the animal charity were determined to find out what caused Dollie’s sudden decline in health.

“Given the complexity of her case, we all know that this can be a long process with an uncertain outcome. We have done all we can to find the exact one. exactly what is going on with this little cat, so that it can save its life.”

Veterinarians from the ASPCA’s dermatology group traveled to Boston and were able to diagnose a case of severe ischemic dermatosis, a reaction to something in the body causing widespread inflammation. Veterinarians cannot determine the exact cause, but can treat Dollie.

In addition to losing her ears, Dollie also lost her tail and one leg due to ᴀᴍᴘᴜᴛᴀᴛɪᴏɴ. However, veterinarians now expect that Dollie is fine and will live a long, normal life, possibly without long-term care for this particular condition.

After leaving Dollie in the care of several months, MSPCA-Angell decided it was time to find this kitten a new home. Since Dollie was left looking a little different, the rescue team worried that finding a home for her could be a challenge.

In the post they wrote that they were looking for “a family looking for a unique cat and willing to work with a veterinarian to address any future medical needs.”

Dollie’s story quickly went viral: the post was shared nearly 700 times in just a few days, receiving hundreds of supportive comments. And fortunately in an update, they announced that Dollie has found a new home.

This poor cat has been through a lot, but thankfully, her new family still loves her as she is and she now has a wonderful new home.

Please share this great news!
