Jogger ‘Miraculously’ Finds Dog ᴛ.ʀᴀᴘᴘᴇᴅ Under Rocks At Beach, Leading To Rescue

A dog ᴛʀᴀᴘᴘᴇᴅ under heavy rocks at the beach survived thanks to the intervention of a jogger who promptly discovered the poor dog.

According to a social media post from San Francisco Animal Care and Control, a 1-year-old Springer Spaniel named “Gwen” was ʙᴜʀɪᴇᴅ under large, heavy rocks in Ocean Beach.

Even though it was low tide, the water still slowly flooded in, putting the dog’s life in danger if not detected in time. Thankfully, help soon reached a jogger who happened to be passing by the beach, Gwen was found near a wastewater treatment plant, according to animal control and care. Runners thought they heard muffled barking, but when they looked around, they didn’t see a single dog. Despite the sound, there were no animals in sight.

Thankfully, he decided to look around – and “Miraclely spotted the face of a dog looking up from under the rocks.”

One photo shows Gwen’s small face buried under the rocks, showing how she has been obscured. It was a miracle that runners were able to spot her. SF Animal Control calls it “the luckiest of all.”

The jogger contacted animal control and Officer Ortega arrived at the scene. After locating the dog (“it is no small feat in itself,” the organization wrote), he moved the rocks and freed Gwen.

Animal control says the dog is “frightened and cold, but otherwise it’s okay.”

Gwen was reported missing by her master, and they were soon reunited.

It’s unclear how Gwen ended up in that tight spot in the first place: “Maybe, she knocked off a large rock, fell, and the rock rolled up,” SF Animal Control guessed. “However it happened, we’re glad she’s safe at home now!”

It is a miracle that Gwen was discovered and rescued in time. Glad she’s safe and back to her family! Thank you to everyone who saved her!
