Family dog retired from the force jumps back into duty – saves toddlers from burning house

Dogs are our loyal companions and most of us can count on them to be there when we need a pet friend. In times of real danger, we never know how we or our dogs will react and hope we never have to face such a situation.

In the case of Margo and Brent Feaser and their two young children, their dog’s loyalty and bravery was brought into play. Thanks to their German Shepherd Dog Maxx, a retired K-9, and their dogged neighbors, the family is still alive today.

Feaser’s neighbors Chip Dover and his sons, Andrew and Joe Jordan, were enjoying a late evening stargazing outside their home in Longwood, Florida, when they heard an explosion. “We’re outside with our telescopes, looking at Jupiter with our neighbor next door,” Dover said. “We were about to go in when we heard a big bang, and the house blew up. We ran there immediately and saw the fire burning like crazy, and then we realized the family was still inside.”

The trio runs to Feaser’s house and grabs whatever they can to break the windows of the house. Investigator Margo Feaser of the Seminole County, Florida Sheriff’s Department was rescued by men but fought to get back inside to save her husband, 4-year-old son, and 2-year-old daughter.

Her main concern is getting in there and rescuing her children. She is a great soldier and a hero to the organization and her actions tonight reflect that behavior. We are very proud of her.

Soon, firefighters arrived and were able to rescue Margo’s husband, Brent. But their two children and dog Maxx remained in the burning house. Maxx later returned to the service to help firefighters find two toddlers trapped in the home. Rescue efforts at this stage proved more difficult as thick smoke enveloped the house but fortunately Maxx was there to meet the firefighters and lead them to the two children.

The fire that completely destroyed the family’s home is believed to have been caused by accident. Maxx was treated for smoke inhalation and was hailed as a hero for staying at home with the children and helping guide firefighters through the thick smoke.

There aren’t enough amazing words on Earth to describe this amazing hero dog! I never cease to be amazed at how our dogs risk their lives to help us humans, we are so lucky to have these trusted companions in our lives.

Well done, you still haven’t forgotten how to protect and serve. Once a hero, always a hero…
