Alabama Fisherman Rescues Two Kittens From Black Warrior River

As usual, fishermen Jason Frost and Brandon Key went fishing Saturday morning on the Warrior River in Alabama, they saw not one but two kittens trying to jump off the riverbank and swim toward the boat there.

“We were sitting there, fishing, facing the river, and then behind us we heard the splashing,” says Frost.

“I thought it was a fish jumping out of the water. I turned around and saw something swimming in the water and then we heard it meow.”

“This is the most unbelievable thing I’ve seen so far,” he added. “No one I speak to has ever seen anything like this. No one even knew cats could swim.”

As he drags the ginger cat to safety, his friend Key hears another sound of water and sees a second cat approaching their boat. “No home for miles,” he said. “Maybe someone dropped them there in the middle of the night. They were so desperate they swam to us and almost jumped off the boat.”

They dry the kittens and give them water, then the two fishermen spend time hanging out with their new feline friends. “They played with us all day,” says Frost. “They adored us and people walked by and thought we were ᴄʀᴀᴢʏ people who took their cats fishing.”

While disembarking, a family with two little girls saw the kitten and fell in love. They offered to adopt them. “Everybody always has an unbelievable fishing story and that’s all, is a story,” he said again. “If I didn’t have this on video, people wouldn’t believe me”

The kittens have been named Warrior and River, and are living happily in their forever loving home.

The first day home they were doing well and both were well taken care of. Warrior and River never left each other. They will grow up a lot! Happy and loved!
